BOATING EDUCATION
Breakwater is committed to the promotion of boating safety. We have identified several programs that provide basic boating and piloting fundamentals and instruction for those who wish to participate in our membership boat club program.
Programs range from a practical 3-hour sea trial, or basic refresher course, to a full fundamental boat operation and piloting course designed for the novice boater.
We offer hourly instruction and training aboard our 23′ or 25′ boats. If you’ve never been on the water or feel your boat handling skills are a little rusty, this is the perfect way to gain or regain your confidence. We provide a 2-6 hour hands-on, on-the-water course for anyone who has taken a classroom boating course or desires to have additional hands-on application training and experience to safely operate a boat and improve their boat handling skills.
At no cost to you, we recommend all applicants participate and successfully complete a United States Coast Guard Auxiliary or Power Squadron Education and Examination Program prior to participating in the membership program.
Regardless of the applicant’s boating experience, Breakwater Boats & Yachts will assist and provide the support to enrollment in a training course that will enhance their ability to safely pilot and operate a boat.
Important Note
Florida Boating Safety Educational Requirements were updated January 1, 2010. This update requires boat operators who were born on or after January 1, 1988 to obtain a Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card in order to operate a motorboat with 10 horsepower or more.
